What are dermal fillers?

As we age, our skin begins to lose elasticity and volume. That’s where dermal fillers come in.

Designed to minimise wrinkles and folds – typically around the face and neck – dermal fillers replace your skin’s natural proteins and kick-start your body’s innate rejuvenation process.* Filler injections are specifically used for the lips, cheeks, eyes, nose and surrounding areas.* They are also a popular choice for treating bony-looking hands.*

There are many types of synthetic and naturally-derived dermal fillers, each with their own unique advantages. While there is no definitive ‘best’ dermal filler, we can help find the right one for you.

How does it work?

First you receive a local anaesthetic, which we administer to reduce your discomfort. The dermal fillers are then injected directly into your skin.

Unlike anti-wrinkle injections which are administered to stop muscle movement, dermal fillers are designed to plump up the skin. The result is instantly firmer skin.*

Most small areas can be treated in 15-30 minutes.* Following your treatment, you will receive aftercare instructions which include minimal downtime. Pain medication is rarely required.*

Who is it for?

Dermal or wrinkle fillers are used primarily to treat lines, wrinkles and folds around the face, neck and hands.* They are a popular choice for the following types of treatments:

  • Facial volumisation*
  • Neck and jowl rejuvenation*
  • Lip augmentation*
  • Cheek augmentation*
  • Eye rejuvenation*
  • Smoker’s lines fillers*
  • Chin augmentation*
  • Brow rejuvenation*
  • Temple rejuvenation*
  • Hand rejuvenation*
  • Marionette fillers (lines beneath the mouth)*
  • Mouth rejuvenation*
  • Nasiolabial fold fillers (smile lines)*
  • Jawline fillers*

What are the side-effects?

At Instant Laser Clinic, our dermal fillers have been 100% verified for safe use. When administered by one of our fully trained medical professionals, the risks are minimal.

However, some people may experience the following short-term side-effects after undergoing dermal filler treatment:

  • Bruising
  • Facial pain
  • Redness or swelling at the injection site
  • Droopy eyelid
  • Skin tightness
  • Muscle weakness or numbness
  • Headache

How long does it last?

Your dermal filler treatment may last anywhere from six months to two years.* However, this will depend on the type of filler used – as well as the specific area you are treating.

Please ask your Instant Laser Clinic practitioner to advise what’s likely for you.

How much does it cost?

Your total cost will depend on the size of the area you want treated, the number of treatments you require and the type of dermal filler used.

Prices start from around $550 per treatment area.
