Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is the latest technology for cosmetic facial rejuvenation that uses growth factors from your own cells to repair ageing skin. This treatment is frequently used by celebrities to create a beautiful, youthful glow and is an excellent approach for those who would prefer a more natural method for facial rejuvenation as opposed to a surgical face lift or various dermal fillers. PRP is not a filler, it is a bioactive stimulator that increases collagen production and will thicken and tighten the skin.  The procedure for dermal rejuvenation involves extraction of a 10ml blood sample from the patient prior to treatment. This blood sample is immediately placed in a special second tube through a closed system which creates platelet rich plasma (PRP). It is centrifuged (spun) for five minutes and the plasma is then separated into three layers; poor plasma, red blood cells, and the platelets and white blood cells from your red blood cells. The rich platelets are extracted from the base of the plasma gel and are then injected into the deep dermis or fat layer of the skin. The platelets gradually increase collagen which can increase skin thickness and overall health of the skin
